Local Teams Dominate in Girls Soccer Shutouts Across Region

Girls’ soccer teams across the region showcased their prowess with several dominant performances, highlighted by impressive shutout victories. Schuylkill Haven, Blue Mountain, and Tri-Valley each secured commanding wins, reflecting both skill and teamwork on the field.

Schuylkill Haven’s Remarkable Win

In a standout match on Thursday, Schuylkill Haven defeated Williams Valley with a decisive score of 10-0. The Hurricanes’ offense was led by Taylor Haag, who netted three goals. Her contributions were complemented by Kylie Siket, Ava Terefencko, Audrey Hutchinson, Kelly Ulsh, and Madison Bayer, who each added to the scoreline. Terefencko found the net twice, both times assisted by Haag, while Schuylkill Haven dominated with a total of 17 shots on goal. In contrast, Williams Valley managed just one shot throughout the match.

Goalkeeper Ally Becker had a quiet evening, making only one save, while Avery Stakem from Williams Valley recorded seven saves despite the heavy onslaught from the Hurricanes.

Blue Mountain and Tri-Valley Shine

In another fixture, Blue Mountain secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Pine Grove. Gianna Chipriano scored the decisive goal in the first half, with an assist from Lexi Waschko. The Eagles maintained control throughout the match, limiting Pine Grove to just one shot on goal. Goalkeeper Karley Koch enjoyed a quiet day in net, registering a single save.

Meanwhile, Tri-Valley triumphed over Lourdes with a convincing 5-0 win. Maggie Hoffman-Long was the standout player, scoring four goals in the first half alone. She received assists from Ivy Sankus and Allie Pennypacker. Ayla Huss capped off the scoring in the second half, further solidifying Tri-Valley’s dominance with a total of 13 shots on goal compared to Lourdes’ four.

In the boys’ soccer matches, Tri-Valley edged out Pottsville with a close 3-2 victory. Nathan Hillard was instrumental in the win, scoring two goals in the second half. The Bulldogs managed 12 shots on goal, while Pottsville was slightly more active with 14 shots.

These results reflect the competitive spirit and skill level present in the local soccer scene, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
