Discover Rare Dominique Wilkins Cards Worth Collecting

Dominique Wilkins, a two-time NBA Slam Dunk champion and nine-time All-Star, continues to capture the hearts of basketball fans years after his retirement. As he celebrates his 66th birthday on March 12, 2024, the spotlight shines on some of the rarest and most valuable trading cards featuring the legendary player.

Wilkins, known for his explosive athleticism and scoring prowess, averaged over 25 points per game for a remarkable ten consecutive seasons. Notably, during the 1985-86 season, he led the league with an average of 30.3 points per game alongside 7.9 rebounds. His illustrious career was recognized with his induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006 and his inclusion in the NBA’s 75th Anniversary team in 2021.

Valuable Cards from Wilkins’ Collection

The recent surge in the trading card market has made headlines, especially with record-breaking sales of iconic cards. A notable example is the dual autograph logoman card featuring Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, which sold for an astonishing $12.9 million in August 2025. This trend extends to Wilkins, who also boasts several valuable logoman cards.

One standout is the one-of-one National Treasures autograph card, which fetched a remarkable $20,000 on June 5, 2025. This sale more than doubled its previous record of $8,400 from October 2, 2023. Additionally, the 2008 Upper Deck one-of-one triple logoman card, showcasing three elite dunkers, including Wilkins and 1986 Slam Dunk champion Spud Webb, sold for $17,700 on September 28, 2024.

The history of basketball cards, particularly rookie cards, presents a fascinating landscape for collectors. Some enthusiasts regard the Star basketball cards as legitimate rookie cards for players like Wilkins, while others remain skeptical about the card producer’s credibility. Despite this debate, the demand for Wilkins’ Star rookie card remains strong. High-graded copies, such as a BGS 9.5, have sold for $15,000 in 2022, with a PSA 9 version selling for $10,000 in August 2025.

Modern and Iconic Cards

The 2021 Panini Immaculate Reebok Pump Wilkins card stands out among modern collectibles, showcasing unique game-used elements. This ungraded one-of-one card last sold for nearly $14,600 in August 2025. The Reebok Pump shoes became a cultural icon in the early 1990s, particularly following Dee Brown’s spectacular performance in the 1991 Slam Dunk Contest.

One of the most sought-after cards is Wilkins’ 1986 Fleer rookie card (#121), part of a celebrated set that includes other basketball legends. The highest recorded sale of a signed PSA 10 version reached $30,600 in September 2025, while a non-autographed copy sold for $23,100 in February 2021. Interestingly, despite the overall rise in value for similar players’ cards in the 1986 Fleer set, Wilkins’ cards have seen a slight decline, down 2.7% year over year, according to Card Ladder.

As the NBA Dunk Contest approaches, the current market may present an excellent opportunity for collectors to acquire Wilkins cards, particularly given his enduring legacy in the sport. With both historical significance and modern appeal, these cards reflect the enduring impact of Dominique Wilkins on basketball and the collectibles market.
