The City of Marietta is set to bring joy to the community with the return of its beloved Ugly Holiday Sweater Parade on December 4. Scheduled as part of the annual Christmas Tree Lighting festivities, this event promises to infuse a sense of cheer and whimsy into the start of the holiday season.
Participants are encouraged to don their “ugliest (family-appropriate!) holiday sweater” and join in a parade that aims to celebrate the spirit of community and festive joy. The festivities will commence at 5:00 PM at Marietta City Hall, where participants will gather before the parade winds through downtown Marietta. This provides a perfect opportunity for all attendees to engage in the holiday spirit.
The Ugly Sweater Parade is a cherished local tradition, featuring not only the parade itself but also choir performances and a special appearance by Santa Claus. The event culminates with the highly anticipated lighting of the Christmas tree at Glover Park.
Individuals, groups, and organizations are invited to participate in the parade by submitting an application to Marietta Parks, Recreation & Facilities ahead of the deadline specified in the official announcement. The parade will follow a short route of 0.4 miles, beginning at Marietta City Hall, moving west along Lawrence Street, circling the Square, and concluding at Glover Park via East Park Square.
This event is not only a celebration of the holiday season but also a reminder of the community’s commitment to coming together, sharing joy, and creating lasting memories. Marietta’s Ugly Holiday Sweater Parade promises to be a delightful occasion for residents and visitors alike.
