The new drama “Typhoon Family” features 2PM’s Lee Junho as Kang Tae Poong, who embarks on a challenging journey at Typhoon Trading beginning in the upcoming episode. Set during the turbulent IMF crisis of 1997, the series portrays Tae Poong’s transition from a carefree lifestyle to assuming the responsibilities of running his late father’s struggling trading company.
In the latest stills released from the second episode, viewers witness Kang Tae Poong’s initial day at Typhoon Trading following the unexpected death of his father. After dedicating years to nurturing a greenhouse, he now faces the daunting task of preserving the company his father built over the past 26 years. Initially overwhelmed and uncertain, Tae Poong’s demeanor shifts as he gradually adapts to his new role, eventually appearing more at ease while engaging with one of the company’s trading partners.
A significant character alongside Tae Poong is ace accountant Oh Mi Seon, played by Kim Min Ha. Their relationship develops from a memorable encounter where a drowsy Tae Poong inadvertently leans on Mi Seon’s shoulder while waiting for the subway. This chance meeting sets the stage for subsequent interactions, including a moment where Mi Seon observes Tae Poong selflessly offering his seat to an elderly woman, unaware that he is actually distracted by an advertisement in her newspaper.
The production team of “Typhoon Family” shared insights into the upcoming episode, stating, “Kang Tae Poong’s journey of growth will begin in earnest as he enters the working world for the first time in his father’s absence.” They encourage audiences to witness the “reckless but sincere” nature of Tae Poong’s first day at work. Additionally, they highlighted the “realistic yet heartwarming workplace chemistry” between Lee Junho and Kim Min Ha as a focal point.
Fans can catch the second episode of “Typhoon Family” on October 12, 2023, at 9:10 p.m. KST. In the meantime, viewers can also enjoy Kim Min Ha’s performance in “Way Back Love” and Lee Junho in “The Red Sleeve,” both available with subtitles on Viki.
