Diana Lynn McLaughlin, Beloved Mother and Community Pillar, Passes Away

Diana Lynn McLaughlin, aged 70, passed away on November 24, 2025, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Her sons, Brad and Eric McLaughlin, announced her death, marking the end of a life dedicated to family, faith, and community service.

A Life Rooted in Family and Nature

Diana was born as Diana Lynn McCormick, the youngest daughter of Graham and Carrie McCormick. Growing up in the mountains of West Virginia, she was immersed in a rich legacy of family and nature. Diana’s childhood was characterized by adventurous explorations in the mountains and streams, which she considered her playground.

Academically gifted, she attended Marshall University before meeting 2nd Lieutenant William McLaughlin at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The couple married on August 11, 1974, and went on to raise two sons while relocating across seven states, often spending holidays in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

A Legacy of Love and Giving

Diana was a woman of deep faith and unwavering devotion to her family. Her love for her sons was unconditional, guiding them through life’s various challenges. As they grew older, she redirected her passion for interior design into a successful business, McCormick Interiors. Alongside her professional pursuits, she dedicated her time to charitable organizations, helping those in need.

For the final two decades of her life, Diana resided in Williamsburg, where she provided care for her ailing mother and cultivated a vibrant community of friends and neighbors. Her joy was evident in her relationships and was often expressed through music, dancing, and the simple pleasures of life.

Diana’s infectious smile, warm laughter, and spirited sense of humor left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She is survived by her sons, Brad McLaughlin (married to Anna) and Eric McLaughlin; her older sister, Tamara Lee (married to John); cousin Mary Ann Bevins; three grandsons—Alex, Andrew, and Patrick—and her beloved dog, Daisy.

In accordance with her wishes, Diana will be laid to rest in her birthplace of Logan, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Dream Catchers, an organization dedicated to supporting those in need.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared through Nelsen Williamsburg at their website.
