A$AP Rocky engaged in a lighthearted moment during a promotional video for this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live. In the clip, which features cast member Sarah Sherman and host Finn Wolfhard, the rapper shares a playful exchange that highlights his sense of humor ahead of his performance.
In the promotional video, released on January 15, 2025, Wolfhard introduces himself to the camera, prompting Rocky to follow suit with a confident declaration, “And I’m handsome.” The New York native advises Wolfhard, “Look, when in doubt, just say ‘I’m handsome.’ Try it.” Wolfhard, slightly confused, attempts to echo the statement.
The dynamic shifts when Sherman joins the conversation, attempting to contribute with a joke. “Nah, you just awkward,” Rocky responds candidly, demonstrating his playful approach. However, the atmosphere lightens again when Wolfhard explains how his parents chose his name. He shares, “Well, my mom loves dolphins … and my dad loves wolves,” covering the first two syllables of his name. Sherman seizes the opportunity to add humor, exclaiming, “And I’m hard right now.” To this, Rocky responds positively, saying, “My girl,” indicating his approval of her boldness.
Rocky’s appearance on SNL comes just a day after the release of his long-awaited new album, Don’t Be Dumb, which features collaborations with Tyler, The Creator and Doechii. This marks his first performance as a musical guest on SNL, although he previously appeared in a sketch titled “Friendos” with Kenan Thompson and Donald Glover in 2018.
The upcoming episode also signifies the show’s return for the new year, following a December finale hosted by Ariana Grande with Cher as the musical guest. The finale was notable as it marked the last appearance of cast member Bowen Yang before the break.
“Don’t Be Dumb” arrived on January 16, 2025, and is Rocky’s first album since Testing, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in 2018. His earlier albums, Long. Live. ASAP and At. Long. Last. ASAP, both topped the charts.
Fans can expect an entertaining night as A$AP Rocky prepares to perform on SNL, showcasing both his musical talents and his engaging personality. The promotional clip serves as a reminder of the jovial atmosphere that often accompanies live television, particularly when artists like Rocky take the stage.
