Allegiant Air has announced new service to Atlantic City, New Jersey, marking its first foray into this major East Coast casino destination. The airline’s parent company revealed on Wednesday that it will begin offering flights connecting Atlantic City with four locations in Florida. One-way fares will start at a competitive price of $39.
Service from Atlantic City International Airport will commence on December 4, 2023, with routes initially available to and from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport. Flights to St. Pete-Clearwater, Orlando Sanford, and Punta Gorda airports will follow, launching over the Presidents’ Day weekend.
The introduction of these routes highlights Allegiant Air’s strategy as an ultra-low-cost carrier. The airline is well-known for servicing smaller, underserved markets, typically providing direct flights to warm-weather holiday destinations. With its corporate headquarters situated in the suburbs of Las Vegas, the airline has built a reputation for connecting travelers to leisure destinations, often facing little to no competition on its routes.
Las Vegas, the airline’s home base, is synonymous with gambling, offering a plethora of venues that range from luxurious resorts to local convenience stores. In 2023, Clark County reported approximately $6.8 billion in gambling revenue through June, with around $4.3 billion generated from the iconic Las Vegas Strip, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
In contrast, New Jersey’s gambling industry has also seen significant revenue generation, reporting $3.3 billion in the first half of the year from its nine brick-and-mortar casinos, as well as online gambling and sportsbooks, as reported by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
The addition of Atlantic City to Allegiant’s route map is poised to offer travelers new opportunities to experience one of the East Coast’s most vibrant gaming and entertainment locales, catering to the increasing demand for affordable travel options to popular destinations.
