Pom Klementieff stars as Romy, a French DJ, in the gripping new film Mi Amor, which recently premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). The film, directed by Guillaume Nicloux, showcases Romy’s tour through the vibrant and sun-soaked Canary Islands, a journey that quickly turns dark when her friend mysteriously disappears.
The film’s synopsis reveals that Romy’s search for her friend is met with resistance from both locals and authorities. As she delves deeper into the mystery, she encounters Vincent, portrayed by Benoît Magimel, a charismatic stranger who has his own troubled past. Together, they navigate a web of intrigue involving the unsettling owners of an exotic animal sanctuary.
Mi Amor features a pulsating techno soundtrack created by Irène Drésel and Sizo Del Givry, adding to the film’s intense atmosphere. Other cast members include Freya Mavor, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Anaël Snoek, and Elina Löwensohn. The screenplay is co-written by Nicloux and Nathalie Leuthreau, while the film is produced by François Kraus and Denis Pineau-Valencienne under the banner of Les Films du Kiosque. The film’s premiere took place on February 6, 2024, as part of the Limelight section of the festival. Following a screening, Drésel and Del Givry will perform live, further enhancing the immersive experience of Mi Amor for festival attendees.
