The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of nighttime lane closures on I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia, scheduled for October 13 to October 17, 2023. These closures are necessary for essential bridge deck repairs and the installation of safety barriers.
From 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM each night, both northbound and southbound lanes will be affected between the Allegheny Avenue and Cottman Avenue (Route 73) interchanges. Motorists are advised to prepare for significant delays and consider alternative routes during these hours.
This maintenance work forms part of the broader $355.3 million I-95/BR3 project, which aims to widen and reconstruct the interstate between Wheatsheaf Lane and north of Margaret Street. The ongoing project reflects PennDOT’s commitment to enhancing road safety and traffic flow in the region.
Weather conditions may influence the schedule of these lane closures, and updates will be provided as necessary. For real-time traffic updates, drivers are encouraged to visit the MyChesCo Traffic Center.
As construction progresses, PennDOT emphasizes the importance of public safety and urges all drivers to remain vigilant in construction zones.
