BREAKING: Mark Few has made history! The head coach of No. 11 Gonzaga achieved his 750th career victory with an impressive 109-58 rout over North Florida on December 3, 2023, in Spokane, Washington. Few is now the second-fastest coach to reach this milestone, accomplishing it in just 904 games, trailing only the legendary Adolph Rupp of Kentucky, who did it in 902 games.
The Bulldogs showcased their dominance as Braden Huff led the charge with a stellar 24 points. Gonzaga (9-1) showed no signs of slowing down after a triumphant win against No. 18 Kentucky just days earlier. Tyon Grant-Foster contributed 19 points, while Davis Fogle added 15 points. Despite scoring leader Graham Ike sitting out due to an ankle injury, Gonzaga’s depth proved overwhelming.
The team shot an astounding 61% from the field while limiting North Florida (2-7) to just 33%. Gonzaga’s rebounding prowess was evident, with a commanding 48-25 advantage on the boards. The Bulldogs clearly controlled the game, establishing a lead early and executing a stunning 20-0 run in the first half.
“It feels great to hit this milestone, especially with a performance like tonight,” said Coach Few after the game. “The guys executed the game plan perfectly.”
The Bulldogs led 31-22 midway through the first half when Mario Saint-Supery ignited the crowd with two 3-pointers and a free throw, spurring a relentless scoring spree. North Florida was unable to find their rhythm, going scoreless for over six minutes during Gonzaga’s dominating stretch.
At halftime, the score was 53-28, with Gonzaga shooting 64% in the first half compared to North Florida’s struggles. The Ospreys were plagued by ten turnovers, allowing Gonzaga to extend their lead into the second half.
Gonzaga kicked off the second half with another 10-0 run, pushing the score to 63-28. The Bulldogs will now take a brief pause before facing UCLA on Saturday in Seattle.
This victory not only marks a significant personal achievement for Coach Few but also reinforces Gonzaga’s strong position as a contender this season, continuing their legacy of NCAA Tournament appearances under his leadership.
Stay tuned for more updates on Gonzaga’s journey as they aim for continued success in the upcoming games!
