Concordia Dominates St. Mary’s with Strong Performance

In a commanding display, the Concordia Cobbers secured a decisive victory over St. Mary’s with a score of 76-58 on January 13, 2024, in Winona, Minnesota. The win marked an important moment in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) men’s basketball season, improving Concordia’s record to 10-4 and 2-3 in conference play.

Led by a stellar performance from Jackson Loge, who scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, the Cobbers set the tone early despite a sluggish start. Loge’s impressive stats included six offensive rebounds, demonstrating his tenacity on the boards and ability to convert second-chance opportunities.

Concordia’s offensive strategy proved effective, as they dominated the paint with 48 points compared to St. Mary’s 26 points. Payton Schell contributed significantly, adding 14 points to the tally, while Jacob Cook provided support with six points and 13 rebounds, despite facing challenges with his shooting, finishing the game with a 3-for-16 shooting performance.

The Cobbers showcased their defensive strength by capitalizing on turnovers, scoring 17 points off St. Mary’s mistakes. Throughout the match, the lead changed hands only twice, highlighting Concordia’s ability to maintain control and build momentum.

As the Cobbers prepare for their next matchup, they will host Gustavus on January 17, 2024, at 19:45. This upcoming game presents an opportunity for Concordia to continue building on their recent success and further improve their standing in the MIAC.
