Linda Sue Ott, 74, of Lomita, California, passed away on July 9, 2025, due to complications from Multiple Myeloma while in hospice care. Born in Indiana on August 24, 1950, Linda lived a diverse and fulfilling life marked by her educational achievements and professional contributions.
Educational Background and Career Achievements
Linda graduated from high school in 1968 and went on to earn a Masters of Divinity from Claremont University. Additionally, she obtained a Master of Science in Counselor Education from the University of Southern California and both a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Arts in Religion and Social Sciences/Psychology from Azusa Pacific University.
Her professional journey included roles in education, financial consulting, and as a stockbroker. Linda served as a district manager at World Book and coordinated materials donation for Goodwill Industries. Her diverse skill set allowed her to make significant contributions to each organization she worked with.
A Passion for Life and Family
Upon retirement, Linda embraced her love for casinos, often traveling to Las Vegas and Valley Center to indulge in poker and slot machines. She took pride in achieving third place in the World Series of Poker during her younger years. A generous spirit, she frequently invited family and friends to join her on these trips, sharing her passion for the vibrant entertainment and diverse cuisines.
Diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2014, Linda faced her illness with resilience. Even as her health declined, she continued to enjoy life to the fullest, embracing moments of joy and laughter.
Linda was known for her remarkable sense of humor, which remained intact throughout her battle with cancer. She is survived by her wife, Debbie Ott, brother-in-law Mike Larkins and sister-in-law Kim Rogers, and several nieces and nephews, each of whom cherished her wit and warmth.
In her final wishes, Linda chose to donate her body to the University of Southern California Medical School, reflecting her commitment to education and helping others. A private gathering of family and friends will be held to honor her life and legacy, celebrating the love and laughter she brought to all who knew her.
