Ann Marie Montagino, an esteemed educator and beloved grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Walter and Sophie Dombroski. Throughout her life, Montagino made a significant impact in her community, particularly through her role as a fifth-grade teacher at Schoharie Elementary School.
Montagino’s passion for teaching flourished during her tenure at Schoharie, where she formed a lasting friendship with fellow educator Marjorie Cummings. Known for her dedication to her students, Montagino inspired countless young minds throughout her career.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is remembered for her warm spirit and the love she shared with those around her.
Montagino is survived by her son Charles J. Montagino and his wife Ericka, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Michaela and Joseph Montagino. She also leaves behind three brothers: John Dombroski (and Barbara), Gerard Dombroski, and Thomas Dombroski (and Deborah), along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Montagino, who passed away on February 22, 2025, and her brother Walter J. Dombroski.
Funeral Arrangements and Community Contributions
A calling hour for friends and family will be held on November 21, 2025, from 11:00 to 12:00 at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home located at 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. Following this, a prayer service will commence at 12:00. Montagino will be entombed at Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
