Brandi Glanville Seeks Treatment for Facial Disfigurement

Brandi Glanville, the former star of *The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills*, is undergoing treatment for facial disfigurement that has plagued her for years. The 52-year-old reality television personality recently shared her journey and new medical support with *Us Weekly*. She has turned to New York City-based infectious disease specialist, Dr. Michael Scoma, after discovering him through social media.

Dr. Scoma aims to address Glanville’s ongoing health challenges, which began after her return from Morocco in January 2023 while filming *The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip* season 4. She contracted a parasite during the trip, marking the start of her extensive health issues. Glanville described her situation as a “wreck,” stating, “I always joke my life is like *The Last of Us*… I have lumps on my face and they’re moving around.”

Initially, her health concerns were limited to her facial area, but the infection has since spread to her neck, shoulders, collarbone, and down her left arm. Glanville recounted spending two years seeking answers, only to be told that there was nothing wrong. “It’s definitely calmed down since I was treated for the parasite, but now I’m left with an infection in my skin,” she said, noting that fluid leaks from her ear and her facial structure appears sunken.

Details of the Treatment Plan

Dr. Scoma is implementing a “multi-phase treatment,” starting with intravenous antibiotics and fungal medications administered via a PICC line in Glanville’s arm. This initial step is a short-term solution aimed at managing the infection. “Our focus is on treating Brandi’s long-standing infection and its secondary effects,” Scoma explained. Once the infection is stabilized, they will discuss further steps to support her recovery.

Glanville must adhere closely to the treatment protocol, which includes proper rest and a protein-rich diet. Dr. Scoma emphasized the importance of hydration and stress management as part of her healing journey. He expressed optimism, stating, “We can expect to see meaningful progress within the next few weeks, and I do believe Brandi can make a full recovery.”

Alongside her medical journey, Glanville is also working with healthcare strategist Rachel Strauss, known as the “PBM Princess,” to manage her mounting medical bills, which exceed $130,000. Strauss aims to help recoup some funds as they navigate the complexities of insurance claims. She remarked, “We don’t know that we’re gonna be able to wipe a fat $100,000 away, but we will ensure that the proper parties pay for those claims.”

Facing Future Challenges

Glanville has consulted with 21 different doctors throughout her ordeal, leading to substantial medical debt. Some practitioners have attributed her facial disfigurement to past cosmetic procedures. Despite the challenges, Glanville is looking towards the future. She has expressed a desire for cosmetic surgery, specifically a facelift, once her health stabilizes. “The doctor actually said my skin should regenerate quite a bit… but it’s going to be at least a year before I can do anything cosmetic,” she noted.

Dr. Scoma confirmed that the immediate focus remains on managing Glanville’s infection before considering any surgical options. “Once the infection is fully controlled and she’s stable, we can evaluate any next steps,” he stated.

As Glanville continues her treatment, she remains hopeful for recovery and improvement in her quality of life.
