V-Mart Retail Shares Surge Over 12% Following Strong Q2FY26 Results

Shares of V-Mart Retail Ltd experienced a notable increase of over 12% on October 3, 2025, following the release of a robust provisional earnings report for the second quarter of FY26. The small-cap retailer’s impressive revenue growth and strategic expansion plans have bolstered investor confidence, driving the stock to rise sharply during trading hours.

On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), V-Mart Retail shares climbed as much as 12.6% to reach Rs. 816.40 per share, marking the largest single-day gain the stock has seen in recent months. This surge was supported by an unusually high trading volume, with nearly 2.6 million shares changing hands, compared to an average of 63,000 shares over the preceding week and 200,000 shares over the past month. By late morning, around 12:20 PM, the stock maintained a solid position, up 7.70% at Rs. 780.15.

Quarterly Performance Highlights

For the quarter ending September 30, 2025, V-Mart Retail reported a remarkable 22% year-on-year increase in consolidated revenue from operations, amounting to Rs. 807 crore, a rise from Rs. 661 crore in the same quarter the previous year. This growth was complemented by a Same Store Sales Growth (SSSG) of 11% for both the flagship V-Mart brand and its Unlimited brand outlets, indicating steady demand across its retail offerings.

In line with its expansion strategy, the company opened 25 new stores during the quarter while closing two underperforming locations. This brings V-Mart’s total store count to 533 as of September 30, 2025. The newly opened stores are strategically located across tier-II and tier-III cities, with five outlets in Karnataka, four each in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, two each in West Bengal and Jharkhand, and one store each in Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Meghalaya.

Market Trends and Future Prospects

While the recent surge provides a welcome boost to investor sentiment, V-Mart’s share price has shown mixed performance over various time frames. Over the past month, the stock is up more than 6%, but year-to-date figures show a decline of 18%, and a 28% drop over the past year. In contrast, the long-term perspective reveals substantial gains, with an impressive 550% increase over the last decade.

Analysts suggest that V-Mart’s strategy of expanding its reach into less developed areas, combined with stable growth in same-store sales, could enhance its long-term growth potential. Nonetheless, challenges such as margin pressures and heightened competition in the retail sector remain significant risks.

The healthy update for Q2 has rejuvenated optimism among investors, as evidenced by the stock’s performance on Friday. This renewed confidence reflects a broader belief in V-Mart’s capacity to navigate short-term volatility while capitalizing on long-term opportunities within the retail market.

For those considering investment in V-Mart Retail, it is crucial to conduct thorough research and remain informed about the potential risks associated with market fluctuations.
