Netflix has officially announced the premiere date for its highly anticipated series, Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole, alongside the release of a first-look image. The show, which is based on the popular novels by Jo Nesbo, is set to debut globally on March 26, 2024. The series immerses viewers in the murky streets of Oslo, where the storyline promises to explore the darker aspects of human nature.
The nine-episode series features Tobias Santelmann in the titular role of the obsessive detective, Harry Hole. Santelmann, known for his performances in Exit and The Arctic Convoy, portrays a character who grapples with personal demons while navigating a series of complex murder investigations. He is joined by Joel Kinnaman, recognized for his roles in Altered Carbon and The Suicide Squad, who plays Tom Waaler, Hole’s long-time adversary. Pia Tjelta, from Made in Oslo, takes on the role of Rakel Fauke.
The ensemble cast also includes a variety of notable actors such as Ellen Helinder, Anders Baasmo, Kåre Conradi, Simon J. Berger, and Peter Stormare, among others.
A Dark and Twisted Journey Awaits
In a statement, Jo Nesbo, who serves as the creator, screenwriter, and executive producer, expressed his excitement about the project. “Finally, we can reveal the premiere date and share this first look at Tobias Santelmann as Harry Hole,” he said. “Seeing Tobias bring Harry to life has been really exciting and marks a new chapter for the character. The series promises a gripping narrative, described by Netflix as “a tale of obsession, betrayal, and blurred lines between justice and revenge.” As Harry Hole confronts Waaler, viewers can expect a cat-and-mouse dynamic where the stakes are alarmingly high. Each episode will delve into the complexities of crime-solving, revealing hidden clues along the way.
Directed by Øystein Karlsen and Anna Zackrisson, the series is produced by Tor Arne Øvrebø with executive producers including Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Niclas Salomonsson. The production company, Working Title, collaborates with Universal International Studios, part of the Universal Studio Group.
