UPDATE: The Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) has just announced the addition of two crucial town hall meetings this October, aimed at addressing community concerns regarding school closures and consolidations. The first of these urgent sessions is scheduled for Monday, October 20, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Vallejo High School Auditorium, located at 840 Nebraska Street.
Community members are strongly encouraged to attend, voice their questions, and provide feedback directly to district leadership. This is a critical opportunity for families to engage in the decision-making process that will impact their schools.
In response to community requests, a dedicated town hall for Spanish-speaking families will occur on Tuesday, October 29, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This session will be held online only, ensuring greater accessibility for Spanish-speaking participants. Interpretation support will be available at all in-person meetings.
“These meetings are an important opportunity for us to listen, share accurate information, and work together on solutions,” stated VCUSD Superintendent Rubén Aurelio. He emphasized the importance of making this process accessible to every family, highlighting the addition of a Spanish-language town hall.
A final town hall meeting is also on the calendar for Tuesday, November 18, at the Family Support Center Gym located at 2833 Tennessee St. As the district approaches final recommendations later this year, these sessions are essential for community involvement and transparency.
All town halls will be livestreamed on the district’s YouTube channel, with recordings made available for those unable to attend. Spanish language and American Sign Language interpretation will be offered at both the October 20 and November 18 town hall meetings.
