BREAKING: Thomas Arthur Hoge, a beloved member of the Lindsborg community and a proud Vietnam Veteran, has passed away at the age of 78. He died on August 28, 2025, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication.
Born on June 13, 1947, in Great Bend, Thomas was the son of James Lloyd and Viola Mae Palmer Hoge. He spent his life in the area, serving as a Police Officer for the Larned Police Department and participating actively in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Great Bend. His commitment to his community was evident in his love for fishing, ranch work, and collecting guns.
A distinguished U.S. Army veteran, Hoge served in Vietnam and was honored to participate in the Honor Flight Trip, celebrating veterans for their sacrifices. He married Katherine Dreiling on February 3, 1968; she passed away on January 1, 2007. Thomas later married Joyce Hughes on June 13, 2008, who survives him.
Thomas is survived by his three children: Tommy Hoge of Salina, Susan (Jennifer Larson) Hoge of Salina, and Sandra Hoge of Farmersville, Texas. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, ensuring his legacy lives on through his family.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned, with Father Patrick Otor, MSP presiding. The mass will be available via Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/beckwithmortuary. Visitation will take place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned, with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A vigil and rosary will follow at 7 p.m. that same evening.
Burial will occur at Larned Cemetery, complete with military graveside rites, honoring Hoge’s service to the nation. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Honor Flight through Beckwith Mortuary.
