UPDATE: The highly anticipated free remaster of The Falconeer has just been launched, offering players a completely overhauled experience that enhances “literally everything” about the game. Developer Tomas Sala announced the release earlier today, urging fans to explore the massive changes that transform this aerial combat RPG.
Originally released in 2020, The Falconeer invites players to pilot giant predatory birds through the skies of a deteriorating oceanic empire. Despite receiving a BAFTA nomination and a favorable score of 78 in reviews, Sala was not satisfied with the initial product. The past year has seen him diligently working on this remaster during his off-hours from developing Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles.
The new update, titled The Falconeer: Revolution Remaster, delivers a complete visual overhaul. Players can expect improved lighting, visual effects, and animations, alongside a redesigned world featuring remade cities and enhanced key locations. These upgrades aim to create a more immersive experience for fans and newcomers alike.
In addition to visual enhancements, the remaster introduces significant gameplay changes. New mechanics include options for automated landing on perches and separated controls for dashing and airborne acrobatics. Furthermore, the game now includes optional in-game races, revamped enemy spawns, and exciting trade routes, alongside five additional sets of bird armor.
In a post on Steam, Sala expressed his hopes that the remaster would reflect his commitment to game development, stating, “I hope and pray this remaster shows the dedication I have for my games.” He acknowledged the challenges faced during the original release, which coincided with the launch of new consoles and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sala shared that the experience was particularly difficult, stating, “Every release is horror, but this one was pretty bad by every account.”
The remaster is now available, with a promotional event planned for November 10 to attract more players. Sala is also looking ahead, planning a new project set in the same universe called Ancient Waves, described as a ship design and open-world adventure expected to release in 2025.
With the remaster of The Falconeer now live, players are eager to dive back into this beautifully reimagined world. Stay updated for more developments and be sure to share this exciting news with fellow gamers!
