URGENT UPDATE: Takkion, a logistics company based in Casper, Wyoming, has just announced a significant expansion at Fuller Industries Inc.’s warehouse located west of Great Bend, Kansas. The company is now leasing up to 80,000 square feet to accommodate massive wind turbine components weighing up to 60,000 pounds each, crucial for upcoming renewable energy projects nationwide.
Takkion Site Manager Nick Coghill revealed that the company recently increased its leased space from 50,000 square feet to an additional 30,000 square feet at the center floor area of Fuller’s facility. This expansion is a game-changer for both Takkion and Fuller, as the components—including generators, control units, and transformers—are essential for enhancing wind-power initiatives across the United States.
“This is a boon for Fuller,” said Joe Mann, general manager of Fuller Industries. “It’s another source of revenue for us, and it allows us to utilize our unused space. It’s a win-win for us and those we serve.” The partnership with Takkion signifies a growing collaboration among local businesses, further solidified by previous arrangements with companies like Great Bend-based Red Barn Pet Foods.
Fuller Industries, which boasts 600,000 square feet of operational space, has embarked on a major campaign to market and promote its leasing opportunities. The company has been working closely with Great Bend Economic Development Inc. to attract potential tenants. As manufacturing needs evolve, Fuller is adjusting its operations to utilize space more efficiently and accommodate new product lines.
In a related effort, Fuller Industries has been busy clearing out decades of obsolete machinery and equipment that date back over 50 years to its origins as a manufacturer for the Fuller Brush Company. Mann noted that this effort involves selling, hauling, scrapping, and recycling these industrial relics, all of which have become unnecessary in the current manufacturing landscape.
“We have a lot of stuff out there,” Mann stated. “Most of it is no longer of use.” This proactive decluttering strategy aims to enhance workflow efficiency and make room for new initiatives that align with the modern market.
As Fuller continues to innovate and expand its product offerings, the company’s commitment to sustainability and efficiency remains at the forefront of its operations. With Takkion now firmly established in Fuller’s warehouse, the local economy stands to benefit significantly from this partnership.
