UPDATE: A new cannabis shop, Dazed, has officially opened its doors in Syracuse, New York, just in time for the bustling back-to-school season. Located at 135 Marshall St., Dazed is generating significant buzz in the Syracuse University area, having launched at the end of April 2025.
Despite its recent opening, Dazed remains under the radar, as it is not yet listed on the official maps of licensed cannabis dispensaries by the state’s Office of Cannabis Management (OCM). According to an OCM spokeswoman, the shop’s address will be added once it hosts its grand opening event, which is expected to take place around the end of August when students return to campus. “We’re sort of doing a soft opening now,” said Kasey Tsaganos, one of the shop’s managers. “But we will do something bigger when the time is right.”
The storefront previously housed the popular bar, Hungry Chuck’s, and has quickly attracted local customers with its prominent signage and diverse offerings. Dazed not only sells a variety of its own cannabis products, including vapes, pre-rolls, and edibles, but also features items from other licensed manufacturers. The store aims to be more than just a dispensary; it is designed as a community gathering space. “Dazed is where the cannabis plant intersects with Music, Art, Fashion, and Food,” the company emphasizes on its website.
The shop’s opening has already attracted notable attention, having hosted former Syracuse basketball star and NBA Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony to promote his cannabis brand, STAYME70, just ahead of its opening. Anthony also made a stop at the Flynnstoned dispensary in downtown Syracuse that same day.
Dazed is part of a growing trend in Central New York, joining an expanding network of cannabis shops. Currently, Onondaga County boasts 15 adult-use recreational dispensaries, contributing to a total of 433 adult-use dispensaries now operating across the state. As the cannabis market continues to flourish, Dazed is positioned to become a key player in this evolving industry.
With its unique approach to blending cannabis culture with community, Dazed is set to make a significant impact. The shop’s managers are enthusiastic about welcoming everyone and fostering connections through the cannabis experience.
As the grand opening approaches, expect to see more developments from Dazed and its efforts to integrate into the local community, drawing in both residents and students alike. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new addition to the Syracuse landscape!
