Major Lincolnshire Roads to Undergo Urgent Resurfacing Work

UPDATE: Three major roads in Lincolnshire are set for urgent resurfacing to address significant wear and tear, according to Lincolnshire County Council. The project aims to provide long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes for crumbling infrastructure that has raised concerns among local residents and businesses.

The first critical site is nearly one mile of the A52 around Leverton, a key freight route near Boston. Work is expected to commence soon and will take approximately 10 weeks to complete. Overnight closures will be implemented from 7 PM to 6 AM, with final dates yet to be confirmed.

At a recent meeting of the highways committee, officials highlighted the ongoing issues with the A52’s surface and drainage systems. Councillor Ingrid Sheard stressed the importance of a full resurfacing, stating, “To patch up or do anything less than full resurface would open ourselves up to having to do further work down the line.”

Additionally, the A17/A151 junction in Holbeach will undergo resurfacing over the next 12 weeks. This road is vital for southern Lincolnshire’s freight transport, with local residents voicing complaints about its deteriorating condition.

Finally, a 500-meter section of the A6121 Ryhall Road in Stamford will be resurfaced, alongside the installation of two new pedestrian crossings. This project is anticipated to last seven weeks. These enhancements aim to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists in the area.

The committee also approved a new cycleway and improved footpath connecting Spalding and Pinchbeck. Local Councillor Thomas Sneath remarked, “In late evenings and early mornings, a lot of people use cycles to get to and from factories. Having a segregated cycleway is the most important factor to keep them safe.”

Funding for the cycleway is secured through a £1.8 million government grant, initially designated for Brayford Wharf East in Lincoln but redirected following community feedback.

These developments represent a significant investment in Lincolnshire’s infrastructure, addressing both immediate safety concerns and supporting the local economy. As the council prepares for the upcoming projects, residents are urged to stay informed about timelines and potential disruptions.

Stay tuned for more updates on this urgent matter, as details continue to unfold.
