UPDATE: The Greenville Eastern North Carolina (ENC) Alliance has just announced the promotion of David Horn to vice president of operations and strategic partnerships. This significant move comes as the organization seeks to enhance its economic development initiatives in the Greenville-Pitt County area.
Horn, who joined the organization in August 2020, previously held the position of director of strategic partnerships. His promotion reflects the critical role he has played in the alliance’s growth, as highlighted by Josh Lewis, president and CEO of the Greenville ENC Alliance. “David has exemplified the characteristics that drive our success, and this promotion is a well-deserved acknowledgment of his impact,” Lewis stated.
In his new role, Horn will oversee essential administrative functions for the board of directors, support governance committee activities, and manage the municipal grants program. Additionally, he will lead the organization’s information technology requirements. Horn expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “Looking back over the last five years, it’s rewarding to see our investor roster more than double, paving a path of prosperity for Greenville-Pitt County.”
Under Horn’s leadership, the alliance has achieved remarkable success, recently welcoming a record number of private sector investors. To date, 111 supporters have pledged more than $4,800,000 over the next five years to bolster economic development efforts. Lewis emphasized, “Our ability to engage deeply with investors is largely due to David’s efforts. He is a trusted community member who genuinely cares about our partners and employees.”
Horn is well-known for his community involvement, notably partnering with Pitt Community College to establish the award-winning Better Skills, Better Jobs career fair. Now in its fifth year, this event has grown to attract over 130 employers and 1,500 job seekers annually, solidifying its status as the largest career fair in eastern North Carolina.
In addition to his role at the alliance, Horn actively collaborates with various stakeholders and serves on multiple boards. He is co-chair of Grow Local, a workforce development initiative by the Greenville–Pitt County Chamber of Commerce, and holds positions on the boards of the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau of Eastern Carolinas, and the Downtown Greenville Partnership.
In related news, the Greenville Utilities Commission (GUC) has earned its 20th consecutive Public Power Award of Excellence from ElectriCities. This recognition reflects GUC’s commitment to community service and operational excellence, according to Tony Cannon, GUC General Manager/CEO.
Furthermore, the Winterville Chamber of Commerce has welcomed new board members, including Lisa Wilson, April Kelly, and Jared Taunton, who bring diverse expertise and community passion to their roles.
Upcoming events include the Small Business Awards Breakfast on October 9 and the October Power Luncheon featuring Greenville City Council candidates on October 21. These events are poised to foster networking and celebrate local business achievements.
