Dodgers Win Epic 18-Inning Game 3; Game 4 Looms Tonight

UPDATE: In a stunning display of endurance, the Los Angeles Dodgers triumphed over the Toronto Blue Jays in a historic 6-5 victory during Game 3 of the 2025 World Series, lasting an unprecedented 18 innings. The adrenaline is still high as both teams prepare for Game 4, set to take place later tonight.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed his emotional exhaustion following the marathon game, stating, “It’s one of the greatest World Series games of all time. Emotional. I’m spent emotionally.” The pressure mounts as the teams gear up for another pivotal showdown just hours after the grueling contest.

This latest victory not only etched itself into the annals of baseball history but also reshaped the narrative of the World Series, making Monday’s Game 3 a double-header of epic proportions. The Dodgers now face the daunting task of bouncing back, with the same players who endured the physical toll of last night’s game needing to step up again.

The spotlight shines brightly on Shohei Ohtani, who set a postseason milestone by reaching base nine times—a feat never accomplished before in playoff history. Ohtani’s dual contributions included two home runs and five walks, making him a vital player despite the fatigue he now carries into the mound for Game 4.

Roberts acknowledged the challenge of managing Ohtani’s workload, saying, “He’s taking the mound tomorrow. He’ll be ready.” The Dodgers desperately need Ohtani’s performance, as both teams have already exhausted their bullpens in a game that resembled a survival test.

In Game 3, the Dodgers relied heavily on their pitching staff, with Will Klein emerging as an unexpected hero, throwing 72 pitches in relief. His effort doubled his average for the season, but the physical demands could weigh heavily as the teams head into Game 4.

On the other side, the Blue Jays’ closer Jeff Hoffman also logged significant innings in relief, throwing 33 pitches over two innings. Both teams are now in uncharted territory, having to dig deep into their rosters as they prepare for another crucial match.

While the Dodgers have the advantage of home-field support, the emotional and physical toll from Game 3 cannot be overlooked. Roberts remarked, “You don’t ever plan on playing 18 innings. You just kind of ask more from the player.” The urgency to recover and perform is palpable as the season’s end looms closer.

Among the players, Will Smith caught the entire 18-inning game, demonstrating remarkable resilience. His performance included handling all 10 pitchers used by the Dodgers, an extraordinary feat that could prove vital as the series progresses.

However, the Blue Jays face their own challenges. Star player George Springer left the game with right side discomfort and has since undergone an MRI. His potential absence could significantly impact Toronto’s chances in Game 4.

As the clock ticks down to October 24, 2025, anticipation builds. Tonight’s Game 4 promises to be another thrilling chapter in this unforgettable World Series. Both teams are aware that fatigue and strategy will play crucial roles as they vie for the coveted championship title.

Stay tuned for live updates as the Dodgers and Blue Jays prepare to clash once more in a battle that feels far from over, even after last night’s epic saga.
