UPDATE: Arch Manning is laser-focused on his upcoming role as starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns as the college football season approaches. Just days ahead of the 2025 season, Manning emphasized the importance of taking things “one day at a time” during his press conference at SEC Media Days on July 25, 2023.
Manning, a potential first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, is determined to make the most of his first season as QB1. “I’m just focused on this year and getting better each day,” he stated, highlighting his immediate goals over future aspirations.
Having sat behind fellow quarterback Quinn Ewers for two years, Manning described the experience as “tough,” requiring him to find alternative outlets to maintain his competitive edge. One of those outlets was recreational basketball, a sport he utilized to channel his energy as he awaited his opportunity to lead the team.
“If they’re complaining about something, either they are going to fix it themselves, overcome it or make an adjustment,” said Cooper Manning, Arch’s father, during an interview with Yahoo Sports. “Let them deal and overcome.”
Last season, Manning made his presence known, throwing for nine touchdowns and accumulating 939 yards despite serving as a backup. As he steps into his new role, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is optimistic about Manning’s potential. “I hope he has a really hard decision to make because that probably means he played really good,” Sarkisian remarked, indicating high expectations for the young quarterback.
As the countdown to the season begins, all eyes will be on Manning to see how he adapts to the pressures of being the starting quarterback for Texas. Fans and analysts alike are eager to witness his journey and the impact he will have on the field this year.
Stay tuned for more updates as the 2025 college football season kicks off, and watch for Manning’s performance to determine his future in the sport.
