Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons Join Urgent Geopolitical Thriller ‘Embassy’

BREAKING: Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons are set to star in the highly anticipated six-part geopolitical thriller series Embassy, which promises to deliver nail-biting action and intrigue. The announcement comes just days before the series is showcased at the MIPCOM television confab in Cannes, starting October 16, 2023.

In this gripping narrative, Kendrick takes on the role of Layla, a resourceful American diplomat stationed at the U.S. Embassy in London. As armed mercenaries launch a shocking attack on the compound, Layla is ordered by the U.S. Ambassador, played by Simmons, to extract a high-value asset from within the besieged embassy. With rising tensions and a broader conspiracy unfolding, Layla must join forces with her ex, a British SAS soldier, to navigate this perilous situation.

The series is produced by AGC Television in collaboration with Ascendant Fox and Turbine Studios, ensuring a high-quality production that will captivate audiences worldwide. Directed by John Strickland, known for acclaimed series like Bodyguard and Line of Duty, Embassy is set to begin filming in February 2026 in both London and Cologne.

This latest project is a significant addition to Kendrick’s already impressive lineup. Following her upcoming role alongside Seth Rogen in Babies, directed by Lauren Miller Rogen, she is also slated to appear with Adam Driver and Daniel Kaluuya in Chris Rock’s untitled drama for A24. Simmons, fresh off his performance in The Accountant 2, is lined up for multiple roles, including in David Ayer’s action film Heart of the Beast, and as George Schultz in the Cold War drama Reykjavik.
