Alligator Captured Near Pearl, Mississippi School After Early Scare

BREAKING: An alligator has been captured near Faith Academy Christian School in Pearl, Mississippi, after causing a morning scare on October 20, 2023. The incident unfolded around 7:30 a.m. when student Beau Gray spotted the reptile in a pond while being dropped off at school.

Authorities were immediately alerted, with the Pearl Police Department, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, Animal Control, and Rankin County Emergency Response rushing to the scene on Murray Drive, just five miles from Jackson, Mississippi.

“We’ve never seen an alligator here in over 40 years,” said Rita Butz, the school’s office manager, highlighting the unusual nature of the situation. Students and staff were kept indoors for safety while officials worked to coax the alligator out of the water.

After hours of efforts, the alligator was successfully captured around 1 p.m.. Authorities confirmed that the reptile will be safely returned to its natural habitat, ensuring the safety of the students and community.

This unexpected event has captured the attention of local residents, emphasizing the importance of safety and wildlife management in urban areas. As the story develops, parents and community members are relieved to know that the situation has been resolved without incident.
