The Midwest Therapy Center in Dickinson has announced its expansion of mental health services following a significant office remodel. This initiative aims to address the growing demand for therapy, offering reduced wait times and a variety of treatment options for clients aged 10 and above. The center includes two licensed master social workers and one licensed clinical social worker, enhancing its capacity to serve the community effectively.
Founder Jessica Landis, who initiated her private practice in 2022, expressed a commitment to minimizing client wait times. “My goal is to have availability because people have needs,” Landis stated. “People say, ‘yes, I’m ready for that next step,’ and it can be hard to sit and wait.” This focus on accessibility reflects the center’s dedication to ensuring timely mental health support.
New Therapeutic Approaches and Collaboration
Alongside her colleagues, Amber Bruer and Emmi Braun, Landis brings extensive experience in addressing a range of mental health issues, including trauma, dual diagnoses, personality disorders, depression, and anxiety. Landis, who holds a bachelor’s degree from Minot State University and a master’s from Boise State University, emphasized her background working with diverse populations, including the geriatric community.
Landis shared her journey, noting, “I worked a lot with the geriatric population and I had so much experience in skilled nursing and people of all different ages.” Her experiences with individuals facing traumatic brain injuries and addiction shaped her understanding of the complexities within each person’s story, guiding her career path.
This summer, the center introduced a new therapeutic method called Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). “ART is a gentle, effective approach that helps your brain reframe distressing memories so they no longer trigger the same emotional or physical reaction,” Landis explained. “You’ll still remember what happened — but without the heaviness that’s been weighing you down. Many people notice big changes in just 1–5 sessions.” This innovative therapy aims to assist clients dealing with performance anxiety, phobias, grief, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
