Julie Fiesel, a cherished wife and mother, passed away peacefully at her home on September 15, 2023, after a ten-year battle with dementia. She is remembered fondly by her family and friends, leaving behind her husband Doug Fiesel, their two sons, Chase Fiesel, who resides in Minneapolis with his partner Sara Tifft, and Paul Fiesel, who lives in St. Paul with his wife Mariah.
A Life of Service and Community Engagement
Born on September 6, 1960, in New Hope, Minnesota, Julie was raised in a close-knit community where she graduated from Cooper High School. She later pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Bethel College, where she met her future husband, Doug.
Julie enjoyed a successful career spanning nearly a decade at IBM in Chicago, where she served as a manager. Her passion for politics and her ability to connect with people led her to roles as a congressional aide to former Congressman Gil Gutknecht. She later became the Director of Government Affairs at the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce, where she was known for her advocacy and community involvement.
Throughout her life, Julie was deeply devoted to her faith and family, embodying the values she held dear. Her friends and family remember her for her warmth, kindness, and ability to forge connections with everyone she encountered.
Funeral Services Scheduled
A funeral service to honor Julie’s life will take place at the Buffalo Covenant Church on September 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM, with visitation starting an hour prior to the service. The community is invited to celebrate her life and share memories during this gathering.
