WWE women’s champion Naomi has engaged in a spirited exchange with rapper Cardi B on social media as anticipation builds for SummerSlam, set to take place on August 2 and August 3 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The tension escalated when Naomi expressed her displeasure over Cardi’s remarks, asserting, “She better hope she don’t run into me at MetLife.”
The feud intensified following a playful social media interaction on July 22. Naomi asked her followers to compliment her, prompting Cardi to respond with a jab about Naomi’s family. Cardi remarked, “You have amazing in-laws … you should thank them,” referencing Naomi’s husband, Jimmy Uso, and his parents, WWE Hall of Famers Rikishi and Talisua Fuavai-Fatu. Naomi retorted, stating, “This means war ⚠️🤬,” indicating her readiness for a confrontation.
In a further escalation, Naomi threatened to “shave all of that pretty hair off” after Cardi showcased her natural hair in another post. When approached by Us Weekly, Naomi humorously mentioned she was “working on a way right now to keep her out of the building” during the event.
Despite the ongoing exchange, Naomi acknowledged Cardi B’s influence in the wrestling world. She stated, “I love the mainstream crossovers,” highlighting the importance of integrating diverse artists and performers into WWE. “Wrestling touches everyone around the world,” Naomi added, emphasizing the vibrant connection between different fan bases.
SummerSlam will not only feature Cardi B as the host but also includes country music star Jelly Roll in a match alongside Randy Orton against Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre. Naomi, meanwhile, will defend her WWE women’s world championship on Sunday in a triple threat match against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky.
Naomi recently claimed the championship title after winning the women’s Money In the Bank ladder match in June and cashing in her contract at WWE Evolution earlier this month. Reflecting on her recent victory, she expressed her astonishment, saying, “I’m still wrapping my head around it. The overwhelming, much appreciated reaction and response from the fans, the good and the bad… they’re making that very vocal, which means I’m doing something right.”
WWE’s two-night SummerSlam event will air live on Peacock, beginning at 19:00 ET on both days. As the event approaches, the rivalry between Naomi and Cardi B continues to capture the attention of wrestling and music fans alike.
