Lynda L. (Hagel) Gambale, a cherished member of the Tyngsborough community, passed away on October 10, 2025, at the age of 78 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Richard A. Gambale, with whom she recently celebrated 56 years of marriage. The news of her passing has left a profound impact on those who knew her, reflecting her extensive involvement in the community and the lives she touched throughout her life.
Born on June 15, 1947, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Lynda was the daughter of the late Elmer and Ruth (Robinson) Hagel. She graduated from Billerica High School in 1965 and later attended Lowell Commercial College. Her professional career included positions as a secretary at Hanscom Air Force Base and The Mitre Corporation, where she was known for her dedication and professionalism.
Throughout her life, Lynda was deeply committed to education and community service. She worked as an educator at the Butterfly Place and established the Arts and Enrichment Program for the Tyngsborough school system. For over 15 years, Lynda taught yoga and bone strength classes to seniors at the Tyngsborough Senior Center, demonstrating her passion for health and wellness among older adults.
Legacy of Community Engagement
Lynda’s contributions extended beyond her teaching roles. She was a founding member of the Tyngsboro Garden Club and volunteered at My Father’s House, embodying her spirit of service and commitment to her community. Lynda’s hobbies included sewing, knitting, gardening, and flower arranging, activities that reflected her creative and nurturing personality.
She is survived by her husband, Richard, and three children: Richard C. Gambale and his partner Arlette Laan, Mark A. Gambale and his wife Cher, and Tammy L. Gambale and her husband Paul Mogren. Lynda also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Andrew, Isabella, Hannah, Jackie, Anthony, Giavanna, and Nico. She is also remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Natalie Hagel, a sister-in-law, Susan Hagel, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Lynda was predeceased by her brother, William Hagel.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Tyngsborough Funeral Home, located at 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough, on October 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. A funeral service will follow immediately at noon in the funeral home.
