Critical Metals Corp has announced exceptional drilling results from its 2024 program at the Tanbreez Project in Greenland, revealing high-grade concentrations of rare earth elements (REE) and gallium. The results, released on August 18, 2025, indicate total rare earth oxide (TREO) grades ranging from 0.48% to 0.55%, with a notable 27.0% of that being heavy rare earth oxides (HREO). The findings further solidify the project’s strategic importance amid rising global demand for critical minerals.
The drilling results from Tanbreez not only surpassed the company’s expectations but also built upon previous successful drilling outcomes. All four reported drill holes encountered consistent, ultra high-grade rare earth element mineralization, confirming the continuity of grade and mineralogy across multiple sections of the Fjord Deposit. Significant zirconium oxide grades were also noted, with values between 1.86% and 1.99% across the sampled holes. Additionally, gallium oxide assays were reported between 90 and 100 ppm, indicating potential economic benefits from this valuable mineral.
Drilling Program Insights and Future Prospects
The current drilling campaign is part of the ongoing 2024–2025 Fjord Resource Upgrade Program, with over 1,500 meters drilled as of 2025. There are further assay results expected between late August and October 2025. All drill holes were positioned vertically at a -90° angle through sub-horizontal kakortokite layers, intersecting mineralization at true thicknesses. Importantly, the mineralization remains open at depth in all reported holes.
Tony Sage, CEO and Executive Chairman of Critical Metals Corp, commented on the promising results: “These incredible results underscore the strategic value of Tanbreez as a rare earth elements and gallium project with scale, grade, and a high proportion of critical heavy rare earths. With China’s total control over the rare earth market globally, securing sources of these critical minerals has become paramount for U.S. defense capabilities and national security.”
He emphasized that the grades reported position Tanbreez as a vital asset for critical Western supply chains, showcasing the project’s substantial resource base and future growth potential.
Detailed Drill Hole Results
Detailed results from the four drill holes are as follows:
– **DDH-A2-24**: Drilled vertically to 41 meters, this hole intersected mineralization averaging 0.52% TREO (with 26.9% HREO), 1.96% ZrO2, 150 ppm Ta2O5, 1700 ppm Nb2O5, and 96 ppm Ga2O3. Mineralization remains open at the bottom.
– **DDH-B-24**: Extending to 61.3 meters, this hole showed an average of 0.50% TREO (with 26.0% HREO), 1.99% ZrO2, 140 ppm Ta2O5, 1700 ppm Nb2O5, and 100 ppm Ga2O3.
– **DDH-C-24**: Reaching 65.25 meters, this hole reported an average of 0.55% TREO (with 25.5% HREO), 1.98% ZrO2, 160 ppm Ta2O5, 1700 ppm Nb2O5, and 90 ppm Ga2O3.
– **DDH-A1-24**: Drilled to 40 meters, this hole had an average of 0.48% TREO (with 25.5% HREO), 1.86% ZrO2, 130 ppm Ta2O5, 1500 ppm Nb2O5, and 100 ppm Ga2O3.
As drilling progresses, further assays will continue to inform the potential for expanding the mineral inventory at the Tanbreez Project. The ongoing efforts in the Fjord area seek to validate historical drilling data, refine geological models for more accurate resource estimation, and provide material for essential metallurgical and environmental testing.
The Fjord Deposit, classified as hosting stratiform magmatic REE mineralization, is integral to the overall Tanbreez mineral inventory. The ongoing drilling is anticipated to delineate these resources further and refine grade distribution across the site.
