Recent discussions among financial analysts have placed a spotlight on Lam Research Corporation (NASDAQ:LRCX) as a leading contender in the semiconductor sector. With significant connections to memory spending, analysts suggest that Lam Research may be well-positioned for growth in the near future, particularly as demand for memory is expected to rise in late 2026.
Mehdi Hosseini, a senior equity research analyst at Susquehanna, shared his insights during a recent segment on CNBC. Hosseini expressed confidence in Lam Research, highlighting the company’s strong alignment with anticipated increases in memory spending. He stated, “I do like Lam Research Corp because they’re overindexed to memory spend, and I think at some point in the second half of 2026, memory spend would have to pick up — just we’re not going to have enough supply.”
Hosseini further elaborated on Lam Research’s advantageous position, noting the company’s new product innovations and increased market share. With a new material being utilized in semiconductor fabrication, he believes this development represents an additional opportunity for the business.
In its second quarter 2025 investor letter, the Artisan Value Fund also recognized Lam Research as a significant contributor to the information technology sector. The letter revealed that Lam Research was acquired on April 9, 2025, during a market downturn. The fund described the semiconductor sector as one of the most pressured areas at the beginning of the year, presenting a ripe opportunity for value investors.
The Artisan Value Fund had researched Lam Research since 2023, allowing them to act swiftly when the stock fell to approximately $60, nearly 50% below its peak in July 2024. The fund’s analysis noted that Lam Research is a key supplier of chip equipment for both NAND and DRAM memory markets, and its financial condition remains robust, with a net cash balance sheet and a commitment to returning all earnings to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases.
While expectations for Lam Research appear optimistic, some analysts express caution. They argue that other AI stocks may present greater potential for high returns within a shorter time frame. The Artisan Value Fund acknowledged this perspective, suggesting that investors consider alternatives that could yield significant upside potential.
As the semiconductor market evolves, Lam Research’s strategic positioning and innovative capacity will be crucial in determining its future performance. Investors will be closely monitoring the company as it navigates the changing landscape, particularly in relation to memory spending trends anticipated for the latter half of 2026.
