UPDATE: In a thrilling recognition of athletic talent, Britney Keeney from Colfax-Mingo and Tatum Huyser from Lynnville-Sully have been named to the first team of the All-South Iowa Cedar League (SICL) volleyball squad, highlighting their standout performances this season. This announcement comes as part of the SICL’s recent honors, with Keeney ranking fifth in the league with 104 kills and Huyser making significant contributions of 77 kills and 28 blocks.
This recognition is crucial for the players as it reflects their hard work and dedication on the court. Keeney’s remarkable statistics also include 27 blocks, 20 aces, and a serving accuracy of 125-of-141, making her a key player for the Tigerhawks. Huyser, on the other hand, led her team with 142 digs and 16 assists, solidifying her role as a vital contributor for the Hawks.
The SICL All-Conference honors are based solely on statistics from conference play, making these accolades even more significant. The league’s Coach of the Year award went to Tim Burgess of Montezuma, who guided his team to a perfect 10-0 conference record.
In addition to Keeney and Huyser, Colfax-Mingo’s Katelyn Steenhoek received a second-team selection, showcasing her impressive season with 160 assists and 27 aces. Other notable mentions include Kate Harthoorn from Lynnville-Sully and Grace Hunsberger from Colfax-Mingo, who both earned honorable mentions for their contributions.
