URGENT UPDATE: The Arizona Diamondbacks have been hit with significant flight delays, arriving in Milwaukee at nearly 4 a.m. CDT Monday, just hours before their four-game series against the Brewers. The delay was caused by mechanical issues with the team’s plane, specifically brake problems, prompting the need to secure a replacement aircraft.
Manager Torey Lovullo disclosed that the team faced a frustrating wait of approximately five hours for another plane to transport them from Arizona to Milwaukee. Lovullo noted, “We had to find another plane,” emphasizing the unexpected nature of the travel disruption. He finally reached his hotel room around 4:30 a.m., leaving the team with a mere 14 hours before the first pitch of Monday night’s game.
Despite the challenging circumstances following their 6-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday, the D-backs found ways to bond and cope with the situation. Lovullo credited Roger Riley, the team’s director of travel, for keeping everyone informed during the delay.
Reliever John Curtiss contributed to the team’s morale by sharing his recently released album of original songs, which the D-backs listened to during their unexpected wait. Lovullo remarked, “We were shooting the breeze, doing things a team would do if you had a rain delay or a plane delay. We took advantage of it, for sure.”
As the team prepares for their crucial matchup against the Brewers, fans are eager to see how the Diamondbacks will bounce back from this travel turmoil. Stay tuned for updates as this story develops and the D-backs look to turn their fortunes around on the field.
