Travelers seeking to maintain their fitness routines while on the road can now find a solution at EVEN Hotels. The hotel chain has introduced a unique concept, providing workout equipment in every room across its locations. With a total of 26 properties in the United States, including four in New York City, EVEN Hotels caters to fitness enthusiasts who refuse to compromise their workout schedules.
John Beck, the Regional Operations Director of EVEN Hotel Times Square South, highlighted the benefits of this innovative approach. “The in-room fitness zones are perfect for quick workouts on your own schedule, with no commute and no excuses,” he stated. Guests at these hotels can access a range of fitness equipment without the need to leave their rooms, making it easier to stay active during their stay.
Comprehensive In-Room Fitness Options
The amenities provided in each room vary by location, but the EVEN Hotel Times Square South is particularly well-equipped. Each guest room features a yoga mat, resistance bands, a stability ball, core sliders, and a fitness wall with guided stretch and strength routines. Additionally, on-demand fitness classes are available on the guest room televisions, enhancing the convenience of in-room workouts.
For those who desire more space or require additional equipment, EVEN Hotels also offer full-size gyms equipped with machines such as rowers and stationary bikes. This combination of in-room and gym facilities has attracted many visitors to the hotels, particularly those attending fitness events like marathons and yoga retreats.
One significant example noted by Beck was a guest who traveled to New York City for the NYC Half Marathon. This guest specifically chose EVEN Hotels due to the availability of equipment for pre-race stretching and recovery options, including smoothies and protein-packed meals. “Guests consistently tell us how refreshing it is to stay at a hotel that doesn’t throw their routine off-track,” Beck remarked.
Competition in the Fitness Hotel Space
Since the first EVEN Hotel opened in 2014, other hotel chains have begun to adopt similar concepts. Several properties under the Hilton brand now feature a program called “Five Feet to Fitness.” This initiative includes in-room access to various exercise equipment, such as a Gym Rax storage bay, a kiosk with guided exercises, a TRX system, and a stationary bike. Nearby locations include the DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Penn Station and the Hilton Garden Inn Islip.
For those uncertain about how to utilize the limited space for workouts, personal trainer Krista Stryker, known for her brand “The 12 Minute Athlete,” provides tailored routines that can be executed in small areas. Stryker has shared a 12-minute workout that consists of six exercises, each performed for 30 seconds followed by 10 seconds of rest, making it ideal for individuals looking to maximize their time.
By integrating fitness into the travel experience, EVEN Hotels is setting a new standard for health-conscious travelers. As more hotel chains explore similar offerings, the trend toward prioritizing wellness during travel is likely to continue expanding, meeting the demands of a growing market of fitness-focused guests.
