UPDATE: Samaritan’s Purse has just launched its inaugural 767 cargo aircraft, delivering crucial aid to families in Gaza amid ongoing conflict. The plane took off from Greensboro, North Carolina, on October 27, 2023, carrying 290,000 packets of vitamin-fortified food, thousands of blankets, and solar-powered lights aimed at helping vulnerable women and children in the war-torn region.
Rev. Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse, emphasized the urgency of the situation. In an exclusive statement, he told Fox News Digital, “Gaza is a very volatile place — it is still dangerous. There are more than 2 million people there who need help.” He condemned the actions of Hamas, stating, “What Hamas did was horrendous… they have held the entire population of Gaza hostage for 18 years.”
The aid mission marks a significant escalation in the organization’s ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian assistance where it is critically needed. Franklin Graham highlighted the dire circumstances families face: “Today we are taking over 290,000 packets of food loaded with protein and fortified with vitamins, as well as thousands of solar lights and blankets for families who have lost so much.”
Before the flight, Graham joined staff and crew on the tarmac for a prayer, underscoring the humanitarian spirit behind this operation. Edward Graham, COO of Samaritan’s Purse and Franklin’s son, called Gaza “one of the most challenging places to work in the world,” expressing gratitude for the team’s dedication despite the risks.
The organization has been active in Gaza since the conflict escalated nearly two years ago, delivering more than 223 tons of food and medical support. To date, their medical teams have treated over 1,700 patients, highlighting their commitment to alleviating suffering amidst chaos.
This airlift includes not only food but also 12,000 solar-powered lanterns to provide light in darkened communities and 12,000 blankets for families who have lost their homes. The wide-body 767 aircraft allows Samaritan’s Purse to increase its capacity for delivering larger shipments more efficiently.
Franklin Graham noted the importance of their mission: “This is about showing God’s love to people who are hurting… letting them know they are not forgotten.” The organization is also providing aid to Israel, having pledged 42 ambulances to emergency services and supporting construction projects aimed at community safety.
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee praised the efforts of Samaritan’s Purse on social media, calling it “the most efficient and effective disaster response organization on the planet.” The first shipment is expected to reach distribution partners in Gaza in the coming days, with additional flights planned as conditions permit.
“This is not a one-time effort,” Franklin Graham asserted. “As long as people are suffering, we will continue to go.”
