With a staggering total of 230 rushing yards and an average of 10 yards per carry, the Hawks showcased their offensive prowess while their defense wreaked havoc, recording 10 tackles for loss and intercepting four passes, three of which were returned for touchdowns.
Lynnville-Sully quickly established control, leading 16-0 after the first quarter and scoring an astonishing 56 unanswered points before Martensdale-St. Marys finally found the end zone with just five minutes remaining in the game. This victory marks the Hawks’ district opener, improving their record to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in Class A District 6, while extending their winning streak over the Blue Devils to three games.
The game began with a thrilling 44-yard touchdown run from Dawson James, who also contributed a two-point conversion. The momentum continued as Jack Bowlin caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from Connor Deal, pushing the score to 16-0 by the end of the first quarter. James added a 2-yard TD run early in the second quarter and showcased his defensive skills with a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Gavin Fisk also shined, scoring twice—once on a 17-yard run and again with a 34-yard touchdown run. His defensive contributions included a 55-yard pick-six, highlighting the Hawks’ formidable defense.

The Blue Devils, now 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the district, were led by Trenton Jellison, who caught three passes for 65 yards and one touchdown.
