UPDATE: Hampshire Regional’s boys and girls cross country teams triumphed at the MIAA Division III state qualifier held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Willard Park in Devens. Clear skies greeted athletes as they raced for a coveted spot in the upcoming Meet of Champions.
Athletes from multiple Western Massachusetts teams gathered, each vying for a chance to extend their season. The competition featured three waves of races for both boys and girls, with the top seven finishers from each wave, along with two wild card slots, qualifying for the final state meet next weekend.
The MIAA celebrated the achievements of the top athletes, awarding trophies to the top two teams in each race as well as recognizing the top 15 individual runners. This event was crucial, as only the best would advance to the state championship, making every second count on the course.
