UPDATE: A crane collapse on the southbound side of I-95 in Sharon, Massachusetts is causing significant traffic delays just hours before the highly anticipated Morgan Wallen concert at Gillette Stadium this evening. The incident occurred at exit 19, blocking part of the breakdown lane and leading to major backups.
According to State Police, the crane operator sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Initially, all lanes of I-95 South were closed, but two lanes have since reopened. However, MassDOT reports that the right lane will remain closed for several hours as cleanup efforts continue.
Traffic congestion is severe, with delays starting in Canton. Drivers are experiencing travel times of nearly 50 minutes to cover just 6.5 miles to the crash scene. This timing is especially critical as gates at Gillette Stadium open at 4:30 p.m. for the concert, which is set to begin at 5:15 p.m.. A second performance is scheduled for Saturday at the same time.
The crane collapse has not only caused frustration among concert-goers but also raised safety concerns for those traveling in the area. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation, and updates will be provided as they become available.
Fans heading to the concert are advised to seek alternative routes and allow extra travel time. Stay tuned for further developments as this situation unfolds.
