BREAKING: Construction has officially begun on an $8 billion “ultra luxurious” integrated resort in Singapore, significantly enhancing the Marina Bay area and Las Vegas Sands’ footprint in Asia. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on July 15, 2025, with notable attendees including Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Las Vegas Sands co-founder Miriam Adelson.
This ambitious project, referred to as Marina Bay Sands’ “fourth tower,” will feature a stunning 55-story all-suite hotel, exclusive retail shops, expansive gaming facilities, and 200,000 square feet of meeting space. Robert Goldstein, CEO of Las Vegas Sands, emphasized the unique identity of this new development, stating, “If you came expecting to hear about an extension of MBS, you’ve come to the wrong party. This is a brand-new building with a brand-new identity.”
The resort promises to captivate visitors with its impressive 76,000-square-foot rooftop area known as the “Skyloop.” This space will boast infinity-edge pools, private cabanas, and public amenities including restaurants and gardens. Guests will enjoy breathtaking views from an observation deck that is set to become a new attraction in the city.
Adding to the excitement, a 15,000-seat arena, designed by the renowned firm Populous—famous for the Sphere in Las Vegas—will be constructed at the base of the resort. This arena aims to elevate Singapore’s status as a premier destination for live entertainment and sports.
The project is designed by Safdie Architects, the firm behind iconic structures like Marina Bay Sands and Jewel Changi Airport. Founder Moshe Safdie was present at the groundbreaking, along with Grace Fu, Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, and Patrick Dumont, President and Chief Operating Officer of Las Vegas Sands.
This development aligns with Singapore’s “Tourism 2040” strategy, released in April, which targets a significant increase in tourism revenue from “MICE” travelers—those attending meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions. The initiative aims to triplicate revenues while also attracting leisure tourists to the city with world-class attractions.
Singapore’s tourism sector is already on the rise, thanks to recent high-profile openings, including the first all-villa resort, Raffles Sentosa Singapore, and the Rainforest Wild Asia zoological park. An upgraded aquarium, the Oceanarium, is set to launch next week, further enhancing the island’s allure.
As construction progresses, all eyes will be on this groundbreaking project poised to redefine luxury and entertainment in Singapore. Stay tuned for updates as this story develops.
