UPDATE: The Oklahoma City Comets and the Chickasaw Nation have just announced a significant multi-year extension of the naming rights for the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, ensuring the iconic venue retains its name until 2033.
This urgent development highlights the pivotal role the ballpark has played in the growth of Oklahoma City. “Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark has played such an integral role in the story of Oklahoma City’s development,” said Kyle Daugherty, General Manager of the OKC Comets. The extension reflects a commitment to the community and promises exciting new experiences for fans.
Initially funded by the MAPS package approved by Oklahoma City voters in 1995, the ballpark officially opened its doors in April 1998. It was named the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in 2012, marking a significant partnership between the Comets and the Chickasaw Nation.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to community and to creating meaningful experiences for families and fans throughout the region,” stated Bill Anoatubby, Governor of the Chickasaw Nation. “We have enjoyed this strong partnership for many years and look forward to building on this tradition in the years to come.”
In addition to the naming rights extension, the Comets are unveiling the rebranded Newcastle Casino Club, which will enhance the experience for club ticket members, further elevating the venue’s status in local sports.
As the sports season progresses, this partnership promises to invigorate the community and foster a deeper connection between fans and the team. The impact of this extension is expected to be felt immediately, as preparations begin to enhance the ballpark’s offerings.
