Tributes Paid as Multiple Obituaries Emerge from Charleston Area

A wave of loss has affected the Charleston area, as several obituaries have been published, highlighting the passing of individuals from various communities. In total, at least ten deaths were reported from Friday, July 25, 2025, through the following week, reflecting the rich tapestry of lives lived in the region.

Among those remembered is William Charles ARENT, aged 88, who passed away on July 25 in Mount Pleasant. Arrangements for his memorial service will be handled by McAlister-Smith’s Mount Pleasant Chapel. Another notable loss is Dolores Jean KRUPCZAK, 91, of North Charleston, who died on July 26. Her funeral arrangements are being managed by Stuhr’s Northwoods Chapel.

In addition, Michael Anthony McCOY, aged 65, of Ladson, died on July 23, with services organized by The Lowcountry Mortuary of North Charleston. Another resident, Roosevelt PENDERGRAST, 62, from North Charleston, passed away on July 21, and his arrangements are also being handled by The Lowcountry Mortuary.

The obituary list continues with Bonnie Lee SELL, 76, who died on July 18 in Charleston, with services arranged by McAlister-Smith’s James Island Chapel. Roger Allen SWIFT, 79, of Johns Island, died on July 26, with his arrangements made by Palmetto Cremation Society of North Charleston. Moreover, Carol Rose WILLIAMSON, 93, of Isle of Palms, passed away on July 24, with services being conducted by McAlister-Smith’s Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Berkeley and Dorchester Counties Remembered

In Berkeley County, the community mourns the loss of Martha E. BRIGHT, 76, of St. Stephen, who died on July 23. Her arrangements are being taken care of by Carolina Memorial Funeral Home of North Charleston. Tragically, Cody Robert CRAGO, just 30 years old and from Summerville, also passed away on July 23, with services organized by Dial-Murray Funeral Home of Moncks Corner. The region also remembers Marlene E. SATTERFIELD, 94, of Goose Creek, who died on July 25, with arrangements managed by Carolina Memorial Funeral Home.

From Dorchester County, Linda Rose COOK, aged 77, of Summerville, passed away on July 25, with her memorial service being arranged by Parks Funeral Home.

Condolences Extend Beyond South Carolina

In addition to local losses, the obituary notices extend beyond the borders of South Carolina. William S. Brown Jr., 77, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, passed away on July 25. His arrangements are being handled by Borkoski Funeral Home of Tiltonsville, Ohio. Furthermore, Larry Deon RABON, 84, of Florence, departed on June 24, with arrangements managed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home of Florence. Also, Carol Jean WALTERS, 54, of Eutawville, died on July 25, and her services are being organized by Carolina Memorial Funeral Home of North Charleston.

Lastly, Elizabeth WASHINGTON, aged 73, of New York City, passed away on July 19, with her arrangements being conducted by Divinity Mortuary of Moncks Corner.

These obituaries reflect not only the individual lives lost but also the profound impact each person had on their respective communities. As families and friends navigate their grief, the legacy of these individuals will undoubtedly resonate within their circles and beyond.
