Vietnamese custom motorcycle shop Bandit9 has launched a striking limited edition of the iconic Ducati 821. This model, which is set to captivate motorcycle enthusiasts, features a unique design that transforms the bike into a visual masterpiece. Only nine units will be produced, each priced at US$44,900.
The project began as a one-off commissioned piece, inspired by a client enamored with Bandit9’s earlier work, the EVE Odyssey. The goal was to create a motorcycle that not only exemplifies the brand’s design philosophy but also excels on mountain roads. The result is a bike that showcases Bandit9’s commitment to craftsmanship and innovation.
Revolutionary Design and Performance
At the core of this custom Ducati is the stock 821cc Testastretta 11° L-twin engine, which delivers an impressive 110 horsepower and 65.8 lb-ft (89.2 Nm) of torque. In standard configuration, this power enables the bike to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, achieving a top speed of 125 mph (201 km/h).
The distinct aesthetic of the bike is marked by polished aluminum that runs seamlessly along its body, devoid of visible fasteners or mounting points. This design significantly enhances its sleek appearance, while the use of carbon fiber in the seat and rear section contributes to the bike’s handling capabilities, particularly on uneven terrain. Weighing in at 386 lb (175 kg) dry, it offers a competitive weight for a middleweight motorcycle, ensuring a balance of performance and agility.
Front suspension consists of non-adjustable 43-mm Sachs forks, complemented by an adjustable Sachs monoshock at the rear, which allows for customization of preload and rebound settings. Stopping power is provided by Brembo monobloc radial calipers paired with dual 320-mm discs at the front and a 245-mm disc at the rear.
Artistry in Every Detail
The Ducati 821’s transformation into this custom piece extends beyond performance, as each component has been meticulously redesigned and hand-fabricated. Bandit9 emphasizes that the focus was on achieving a concept of unity throughout the bike’s design. This includes the polished aluminum gas cap and fork covers, as well as bespoke features such as an integrated exhaust, custom foot pegs, and mirrors.
The bodywork has been entirely handcrafted, with the lighting system cleverly integrated to remain virtually invisible when not in use. Bandit9’s design philosophy resonates throughout the build, creating a motorcycle that is not just a vehicle but a work of art.
Bandit9’s Ducati 821 custom joins a prestigious lineup of creations, including the EVE Odyssey and the Nano e-scooter. With only nine units available, each bike takes approximately six months to complete, making this an exclusive offering for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Although the price may be comparable to that of luxury cars, those who purchase this motorcycle are unlikely to use it as an everyday ride. Instead, it is expected to be a showcase piece, admired for its exquisite craftsmanship and unique design, rather than a practical mode of transportation.
