Apple has unveiled the beta version of Apple Music 5.0 for Android, introducing a series of new features and design changes aimed at enhancing user experience. As reported by 9to5Google, this update does not include the “Liquid Glass” redesign introduced in iOS 26, which is Apple’s new visual language for its applications. While the Android version will not receive this specific aesthetic overhaul, it does incorporate several elements from its iOS counterpart.
The redesigned Android app features new pill-shaped buttons for play, shuffle, and repeat functions, replacing the previous rectangular buttons with rounded corners. This change is evident at the top of albums, playlists, and tracks queued for listening. Additionally, users will have the ability to pin music to the top of their Library for quick access, allowing them to select specific artists, albums, playlists, or songs. Users can also opt for automatic downloads of pinned items to their devices.
According to 9to5Google, items pinned in the Android app will sync with the Apple Music app on iOS. Users can easily unpin items by long-pressing on them within the Library. This streamlined functionality is expected to enhance user engagement with the app.
Another significant addition is the introduction of a “lyrics translation and pronunciation guide.” This feature is powered by Apple Intelligence on iPhones and is likely to utilize Google’s AI technology on Android devices. This capability aims to assist users in understanding and pronouncing lyrics in various languages, enhancing the overall music experience.
Moreover, the app will provide users with monthly and yearly replay statistics, allowing them to track their listening habits more effectively. While these enhancements are notable, it remains unclear whether the much-anticipated AutoMix feature, which debuted in iOS 26, will be integrated into the Android version. AutoMix employs DJ-style transitions between tracks, blending the end of one song with the beginning of another, offering a seamless listening experience.
As the beta version rolls out, Apple Music for Android users can look forward to an enriched interface and features designed to make music more accessible and enjoyable. The full release date and additional details about future updates remain to be confirmed.
