The University of Oklahoma is seeking a new athletic director following the retirement announcement of Joe Castiglione. Among the twelve members of the search committee is former softball standout Kinzie Hansen, who played a pivotal role in the university’s athletics success during her time as a student-athlete.
Committee Composition and Responsibilities
Hansen, known for her impressive collegiate career, joins a distinguished group tasked with selecting the next leader for Oklahoma Athletics. The committee includes:

Castiglione, who has led the athletic department since 1998, will transition to the role of Emeritus Athletics Director once his successor is appointed. He will continue to support Oklahoma through fundraising activities until June 2028.
Kinzie Hansen’s Athletic Achievements
Kinzie Hansen’s contributions to the University of Oklahoma’s softball program are notable. She was instrumental in leading the Sooners to four consecutive Women’s College World Series titles. In her final season in 2024, Hansen boasted a remarkable batting average of .400, hitting eleven home runs and driving in 41 runs while scoring 35 times.
Her defensive skills are equally impressive, as she achieved a career fielding percentage of .922, ranking fifth in program history. Additionally, her total of sixty career home runs places her sixth in the university’s record books.
After completing her collegiate career, Hansen signed with the Oklahoma Spark, an independent professional softball team featuring many former Oklahoma players. Her international experience includes participation with Team USA during the 2023 All Star Series in Japan and the 2022 World Games.
Most recently, Hansen contributed to the Oklahoma Spark’s victory at the TC Colorado Pro Cup, helping the team secure the championship in its inaugural year.
