Edward Farrell Remembered for Devotion to Family and Community

Edward Farrell, a beloved figure from Wyoming, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on July 5, 1934, to Edward and Emma Benish Farrell, he grew up in Wilkes-Barre and graduated from Coughlin High School. His legacy includes not only his family but also his dedication to community service and his passion for sports.

After graduating high school, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1953, serving aboard the USS Pittsburgh during the Korean War. His naval career took him across the Mediterranean, where he met his future wife, Deanna Innamorati, at Sandy Beach, Harvey’s Lake. The couple married in 1956 and were set to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary in May 2026. Their partnership was characterized by deep affection, shared laughter, and countless treasured memories.

Ed returned to civilian life after his service, spending over 20 years working at Follmer Trucking – North Penn Transfer. Although he retired early due to an accident, his true fulfillment came from his family. He cherished moments spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always supporting their endeavors and creating lasting family traditions.

His passion for sports was evident throughout his life. Not only did Ed enjoy watching football and wrestling, but he also actively participated in these sports as a referee, giving back to his community and staying engaged with the games he loved.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Deanna, and their children: Edward Jr. (Sharon Stample), Mark Farrell (Susan Pollard), Scott Farrell (Kathleen Rosie), Deanna Farrell Mennig (John Mennig), and Lari Ann Friedenberg (Scott Friedenberg). Ed was a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren, including Rebecca Farrell Williams and Liz Farrell Foss, and an adoring great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren, including Sophia Farrell and Lottie Foss.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, October 5, from 14:00 to 16:00 at Hugh B. Hughes & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, located at 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, October 6, at 10:30 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville. Ed will be interred at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Shavertown.

Ed Farrell’s life was a testament to love—love for his family, friends, and community. He will be remembered for his kind heart, warm smile, and unwavering support for those around him. For further details or to send condolences, please visit the funeral home website at www.hughbhughes.com.
