The North East Mississippi Electric Power Association (NEMEPA) has joined forces with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to provide significant financial support to local nonprofit organizations. This initiative, funded through TVA’s Community Care Fund, aims to address pressing community needs by offering matching grants for local projects. Each selected organization received a grant of $5,000 to further their missions.
In a statement, Keith Hayward, CEO and General Manager of NEMEPA, expressed gratitude for TVA’s ongoing support. “We are grateful for TVA’s continued support through the Community Care Fund, which allows us to extend even greater help to organizations making a real impact in our communities. By partnering together, we can strengthen the resources available to serve and support our members,” he said.
The recipients of this year’s grants include:
– Love Packs
– United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County
– Pontotoc County CREATE Affiliate (PACT)
– United Way of Northeast Mississippi
These organizations play crucial roles in enhancing the quality of life for residents in their respective areas. The funding will enable them to tackle various challenges and implement programs that directly benefit the community.
Jeannette Mills, TVA Executive Vice President and Chief External Relations Officer, emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing community needs. “In the spirit of public power, we are honored to partner with local power companies to address the unprecedented challenges facing those we serve,” she stated.
The Community Care Fund is specifically designed to assist local power companies in meeting immediate community needs. By providing matching funds, TVA encourages localized initiatives that can lead to lasting positive change. This partnership between NEMEPA and TVA exemplifies a commitment to community welfare and support.
