Local Churches Host Community Events, Services This September

Community engagement is thriving this September as several local churches organize a variety of events aimed at fostering connection and spiritual growth. From newcomer meet-and-greets to family-friendly activities, these gatherings offer opportunities for residents to connect with their faith and each other.

Newcomer Events and Family Activities

On September 7, from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Liberty Bible Church at 824 N Calumet Ave will host a “Newcomer Coffee” event. This gathering aims to welcome new members, providing them with information and a chance to engage with fellow attendees and pastoral staff. Participants can ask questions and meet other families in a relaxed setting. For further details, visit their website.

Following shortly after, Bethel Church located at 10202 Broadway will kick off its Awana program on September 10. This initiative is designed for children aged 4 through sixth grade, featuring theme nights, games, and Bible lessons every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Parents can register their children online for this engaging program.

Another highlight is the outdoor service hosted by CrossPoint Church at Bulldog Park on August 31, beginning at 10:30 a.m. After the service, families can enjoy bounce houses and a splash pad, with food trucks including S&T Too Pizza and Damo’s Dogs offering refreshments on-site.

Special Worship Services and Community Health Initiatives

On August 30 and August 31, St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church will provide vehicle blessings during a drive-thru service. This unique offering will be available from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on August 30 and again from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on August 31, allowing participants to receive blessings without leaving their cars.

The community health and wellness fair hosted by the nurses ministry at Peace Emmanuel Baptist Church on September 13 is another significant event. Scheduled between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., this fair will include health screenings and information on mental health, cancer, and fire prevention. Attendees can look forward to a lively atmosphere featuring a DJ, games, and various activities.

Looking ahead to September 14, St. Timothy Unity Church will present a Gospel Extravaganza in collaboration with the Urban League of Northwest Indiana. Starting at 4 p.m., attendees can purchase general tickets for $25 or VIP tickets for $75. For more information, interested individuals can call 219-887-9621 or visit Eventbrite.

Additionally, Valparaiso Baptist Church will conduct a Nursing Home Ministry event on August 31 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Golden Living Center. This outreach aims to engage with seniors and provide support through fellowship and ministry.

These events reflect a vibrant community spirit and the commitment of local churches to provide meaningful experiences for residents. To submit worship news, interested parties can contact [email protected] for consideration.
