A new chapter begins at Capital Region BOCES as entrepreneur Karen “Kema” Maxwell takes on the role of teacher for the Global Fashion program at the Career and Technical Education Center. Maxwell steps into this position following the departure of Chloe Perazzeli, who has transitioned to a role as Work-Based Learning coordinator for Career and Technical Education (CTE).
Maxwell brings a wealth of experience to her new role. As the creator and owner of the handbag company Kema, she has made a name for herself in both local and national fashion shows. Her background in the industry positions her well to inspire and educate the next generation of fashion professionals.

Prior to joining BOCES, Maxwell offered sewing lessons, emphasizing her passion for teaching and mentorship. She expressed a strong desire to impact and change lives through education, stating, “I find great fulfillment in helping others develop their skills and pursue their dreams.”
